          OUR HISTORY

The Mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We are dedicated to this mission. We believe this mission will be accomplished through instructive sharing of God’s irrefutable love, divine grace and the presence of the Holy Spirit in the world. We are encouraged by the fact that the church is one body with many parts and all believers are connected through our Savior Jesus Christ.

Pastor’s Vision... The pastor’s vision for “Mighty” Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church is that by the grace of God, we prove to be the church that can and will make a difference in this community and in the world. We will live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ by sharing God’s love, promoting spiritual growth and encouraging others to accept the grace that God so freely gives. It’s only through Jesus that love conquers all of our shortcomings.

Since 1873, members of our "Mighty" Moore’s Chapel Family have been preaching, teaching, sharing and spreading the good news Gospel of Jesus Christ. With each new generation, our Church Family has been actively engaged in teaching the authority of God in all things for the joy of all people through Jesus Christ. There was a time when all local African American high schools held their graduation exercises at "Mighty" Moore's Chapel.

By the grace of God, our church has stood through many hard trials, tribulations, and tests. We can truly say God has brought us from a mighty long way and God continues to shower down blessings upon us. God allows us to continually grow and age gracefully as we edify and glorify God's wonderful name.

We celebrate the fact that our church has maintained an unbroken tradition, embracing our Biblical duty to make certain that the next generation hears about the mighty acts of God. We are dedicated to demonstrating our love of God through community outreach and support that fosters kingdom building.
